Brad Story is a Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on development of computational, physically based models that simulate the observed structure, movement, and acoustic characteristics of specific components of the speech production system.

After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987, he worked in industry as an engineer where he developed computer models and instrumentation systems for designing and measuring the performance of exhaust systems.  Motivated by an interest in the production and perception of sound, he received his Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Iowa, and then held post-doctoral research positions at the University of Iowa and at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Since arriving at the UA in 2000,  he has maintained an active research program and taught courses in speech science, speech perception, acoustics, hearing science, and anatomy and physiology.
