Our primary instructor, Lynn Maxfield, PhD., (tenor) holds a Master’s degree in Voice Performance and a Ph.D in Voice Pedagogy from the University of Iowa and has been teaching at colleges in the mid-west and Connecticut for four years. In addition to teaching and researching, he maintains an active performance presence. His opera credits include Tamino and Monastotos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Sam Polk in Floyd’s Susannah, Orpheus in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, and Guglielmo in Donizetti’s Viva La Mamma. A champion of new music, Maxfield recently appeared in an Eastern-Iowa tour of Eric Chasalow’s 2007 opera, The Puzzlemaster and participated in the premier of several new orchestrations of the 26 Italian Songs and Arias by Galesburg, IL composer Daniel Godsil. In 2011 he joined the chorus at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in their production of Wagner’s Lohengrin and in 2012 he performed as the tenor soloist in two performances of Handel’s Messiah as well as in Mozart’s Coronation Mass. He is currently contracted for the entire 2012-2013 season in the chorus of the Utah Opera
Additional Benefits: As an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Dr. Maxfield’s students are eligible for local, regional, and national NATS competitions, and will be informed of auditions and competitions advertised through NATS and Classical Singer magazine.
