The National Center for Voice and Speech at the University of Utah is always seeking a talented, energetic personnel to work with our diverse research and outreach team. The internal mission of the NCVS is to continue to foster cross-disciplinary research, reinforce the training of new scientists and clinicians, uphold scientific integrity, and report scientific progress to research colleagues. Job Description
: This is an entry level support position to work in an office focused on research and outreach. Responsibilities include: Prepare study materials for research participants, Assist with outreach materials and social media, File and maintain research records and logs of research data, Store, file and inventory research samples.

Qualifications: The applicant must be a university student.  Specific qualifications include: Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions,  Demonstrate organizational skills,  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, Ability to prioritize and work on several tasks at the same time, Computer literacy is essential, Ability to work as part of a larger team while maintaining the highest self-regulation and commitment, Ability to multitask & strong work ethic.

Preferences: Should either have experience in OR a strong interest in obtaining knowledge in one of the following:
Working in a team environment; Public health, Scientific research methods; Scientific writing skills; Knowledge of statistics; Conducting exhaustive literature searches (Pubmed; EBSCO etc), Audio recording, Speech and hearing processes. Applicant must be CITI certified within 30 days of hire.

Student Research Engineer:

Job Description: An Engineering student is required to work as an intern to implement and test several algorithms in MATLAB and C++. The algorithms include audio streaming, differential equation solvers, optimization techniques, statistical and power analysis.

Qualifications: The applicant must be a university student.  Specific qualifications include: 1. Undergraduate or Graduate student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related. 2. Experience in implementation of algorithms and development of test cases for the verification of the algorithms implemented.  3. Demonstrated knowledge of multiple scientific programming languages such as C, C++, MATLAB, JAVA and FORTRAN.  4. Familiarity with algorithms which could be used in such products as Audio streaming, Runge-Kutta differential equation solvers, optimization techniques such as simulated annealing, genetic algorithms, statistical analysis techniques and power analysis.  5. Experience with soldering and assembling components on a PCB board. 6. Experience working with version control software such as Subversion is a plus.  7. Excellent Oral and Written communication skills. Should have experience writing technical documents and user manuals.

Preferences: Some knowledge in electronics where one has to solder and assemble electronic components.
